Marinated beef short ribs from the Korean grill
Galbi are marinated beef short ribs, the centrepiece of Korean barbecue. Grilled over charcoal at the table, they are sociability and pleasure in one.
The sweet-savoury marinade of soy sauce, pear, garlic and sesame oil tenderises the meat and caramelises beautifully on the grill.

Ingredients
- Beef short ribs (galbi cut)1 kg
- Soy sauce6 tbsp
- Pear, grated1/2
- Garlic & sugar2 tbsp each
- Sesame oil2 tbsp
- Spring onion & sesameto serve

Preparation
Stir soy sauce, pear, garlic, sugar and sesame oil into a marinade.
Marinate the ribs in it for at least 4 hrs (or overnight).
Grill very hot over charcoal or in a grill pan.
Let them caramelise on both sides.
Serve with sesame and spring onion, lettuce and rice.
