Prawns with glass noodles from the clay pot

Goong ob woonsen is a Thai-Chinese dish in which prawns and glass noodles are steamed in a covered clay pot.

The glass noodles soak up the aromatic broth of soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger and pepper - a fragrant, festive dish.

Ingredients

  • Large prawns400 g
  • Glass noodles150 g
  • Ginger1 piece
  • Soy sauce & oyster sauce2 tbsp each
  • Sesame oil & white peppersome of each
  • Garlic & coriander rootsome of each
  • Bacon slices (optional)50 g

Preparation

  1. Soak the glass noodles.

  2. Mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil and pepper into a sauce.

  3. Lay ginger, garlic and bacon in the clay pot.

  4. Layer glass noodles, prawns and sauce on top.

  5. Steam covered until the prawns are done and noodles glassy.
