Korean rice with soybean sprouts

Kongnamul bap is a simple, nourishing Korean dish in which rice is cooked together with crisp soybean sprouts in one pot.

A savoury soy sauce with sesame, gochugaru and spring onion is folded through - a classic of thrifty, healthy home cooking.

Ingredients

  • Rice300 g
  • Soybean sprouts (kongnamul)300 g
  • Soy sauce3 tbsp
  • Gochugaru & sesame oil1 tbsp each
  • Garlic & spring onionsome of each
  • Sesameto garnish

Preparation

  1. Wash the rice and put it in the pot with the soybean sprouts.

  2. Cook covered with a little water until rice and sprouts are tender.

  3. Mix soy sauce, gochugaru, sesame oil, garlic and spring onion.

  4. Gently fluff the rice and sprouts.

  5. Serve with the savoury sauce and sesame.
