Crispy North Indian potato patties

Aloo tikki are crisply fried potato patties, a popular street snack in North India.

The spiced potato cakes are fried golden and served with tamarind and mint chutney plus yoghurt.

Ingredients

  • Potatoes500 g
  • Green peas100 g
  • Ginger & green chilisome of each
  • Garam masala & cuminsome of each
  • Cornstarch2 tbsp
  • Chutney & yoghurtto serve

Preparation

  1. Boil and mash the potatoes.

  2. Mix with peas, ginger, chili and spices.

  3. Bind with starch and form into patties.

  4. Fry crisp on both sides in a little oil.

  5. Serve with chutney and yoghurt.
