Fried sesame balls with mung bean filling

Banh cam are golden, sesame-coated fried balls from southern Vietnam.

The crisp glutinous rice shell encloses a sweet filling of mung bean paste.

Ingredients

  • Glutinous rice flour200 g
  • Peeled mung beans120 g
  • Sugar80 g
  • Sesame60 g
  • Warm wateras needed
  • Oil for fryingenough

Preparation

  1. Cook the mung beans and work with sugar into a paste.

  2. Knead the rice flour with water into a dough.

  3. Flatten the dough and fill with bean paste.

  4. Shape into balls and roll in sesame.

  5. Fry in oil until golden.
