Puff pastry parcels with BBQ pork

Char siu sou are golden puff pastries from Cantonese dim sum, filled with sweet-savoury char siu pork.

Unlike steamed char siu bao, they come from the oven and are crisp and flaky outside.

Ingredients

  • Puff pastry2 sheets
  • Char siu pork250 g
  • Oyster & soy sauce1 tbsp each
  • Sugar & sesame oilsome of each
  • Shallots2 pieces
  • Egg (for brushing)1 piece

Preparation

  1. Dice char siu and fry with shallots.

  2. Bind with oyster sauce, soy and sugar into a filling.

  3. Cut the puff pastry into squares.

  4. Add filling and seal into parcels.

  5. Brush with egg and bake golden.
