Chatamari

Newari rice crepe from Kathmandu

Chatamari is a thin rice crepe of the Newar people from the Kathmandu valley, often called Nepali pizza.

The rice batter is topped in the pan with minced meat, egg and spices and cooked only from below, so the toppings gently set.

Ingredients

  • Rice flour200 g
  • Minced meat200 g
  • Egg3 pieces
  • Onion & coriandersome of each
  • Ginger, garlic & chilisome of each
  • Cumin & saltsome of each

Preparation

  1. Whisk rice flour with water into a thin batter.

  2. Pour the batter into a hot pan.

  3. Spread spiced minced meat on top.

  4. Crack an egg over it and scatter coriander.

  5. Cook covered from below until set, serve.
