Chicken Tikka

Marinated chicken skewers from the tandoor

Chicken tikka are boneless chicken pieces marinated in yoghurt and spices, cooked on skewers in the tandoor oven.

The yoghurt marinade tenderizes the meat, while charcoal and tandoor heat give it its signature smoky aroma - the base of the world-famous tikka masala.

Ingredients

  • Chicken breast (cubed)600 g
  • Yoghurt150 g
  • Ginger-garlic paste2 tbsp
  • Garam masala1 tsp
  • Chili powder & turmeric1 tsp each
  • Lemon juice2 tbsp
  • Oil2 tbsp

Preparation

  1. Mix yoghurt with ginger-garlic paste and spices.

  2. Marinate the chicken in it for several hours.

  3. Thread onto skewers.

  4. Cook in a very hot oven or grill until the edges lightly char.

  5. Serve with lemon and onion rings.
