Braised tofu in spicy soy sauce

Dubu jorim is a popular Korean side dish of pan-fried tofu braised in a spicy soy sauce.

The sauce of soy, garlic and gochugaru soaks into the tofu, making it savoury and gently spicy.

Ingredients

  • Firm tofu400 g
  • Soy sauce3 tbsp
  • Gochugaru (chili flakes)1 tbsp
  • Garlic2 cloves
  • Spring onions2
  • Sesame oil & sugar1 tsp each

Preparation

  1. Cut the tofu into thick slices.

  2. Pan-fry until golden brown.

  3. Mix a sauce of soy, gochugaru and garlic.

  4. Pour over the tofu and braise gently.

  5. Sprinkle with spring onions and sesame.
