Godeungeo gui is salted, grilled mackerel, a simple and beloved everyday dish in Korea.

The rich fish is seasoned only with salt and served with rice and banchan.

Ingredients

  • Mackerel (filleted)2
  • Coarse salt2 tbsp
  • Rice wine (mirim)1 tbsp
  • Oil1 tbsp
  • Lemon1

Preparation

  1. Pat the mackerel with rice wine.

  2. Salt generously on both sides.

  3. Let it sit briefly.

  4. Cook crisp in a pan or on the grill.

  5. Serve with lemon and rice.
