Braised mackerel with radish

Godeungeo jorim is a savoury Korean braise of mackerel and radish in a spicy chili-soy sauce.

The radish soaks up the bold sauce while the mackerel turns tender and aromatic - a nourishing family dish.

Ingredients

  • Mackerel (in pieces)2 pieces
  • Radish300 g
  • Gochugaru (chili flakes)2 tbsp
  • Soy sauce3 tbsp
  • Garlic & gingersome of each
  • Spring onion2 stalks

Preparation

  1. Lay thick radish slices in the pot.

  2. Bed the mackerel pieces on top.

  3. Pour over a sauce of gochugaru, soy, garlic and ginger.

  4. Braise covered with a little water.

  5. Spoon sauce over the fish, serve with spring onion.
