Spinach with sweet sesame sauce

Goma ae is a classic Japanese side dish of blanched spinach in a creamy sesame sauce.

Roasted, ground sesame seeds with soy sauce and sugar make the nutty-sweet dressing.

Ingredients

  • Spinach300 g
  • Roasted sesame4 tbsp
  • Soy sauce1 tbsp
  • Sugar1 tbsp
  • Mirin1 tsp
  • Salt1 pinch

Preparation

  1. Blanch the spinach briefly and shock cold.

  2. Squeeze out well and cut into pieces.

  3. Pound the sesame until oil releases.

  4. Stir with soy sauce, sugar and mirin into a sauce.

  5. Toss the spinach in it and serve.
