Steamed bun with sweet bean

Hoppang is a fluffy steamed bun sold in Korea mainly in winter from steaming display cases at kiosks.

The classic sweet red bean filling warms you, but there are also savoury versions with vegetables or pizza flavour.

Ingredients

  • Wheat flour300 g
  • Yeast & sugarsome of each
  • Sweet red bean paste250 g
  • Milk150 ml
  • Baking powder1 tsp
  • Oil & saltsome of each

Preparation

  1. Knead flour, yeast, sugar and milk into a dough, let rise.

  2. Portion the dough and press flat.

  3. Fill with bean paste and seal all around.

  4. Let rise again seam-side down.

  5. Steam about 15 minutes and serve warm.
