Grilled mochi in a nori wrap

Isobeyaki are grilled rice cakes (mochi) wrapped in a strip of nori seaweed.

Brushed with soy sauce, they combine the chewy sweetness of mochi with the salty sea aroma of the seaweed.

Ingredients

  • Mochi (rice cakes)4
  • Nori sheets2
  • Soy sauce2 tbsp
  • Sugar1 tsp

Preparation

  1. Grill or toast the mochi until they puff up.

  2. Mix soy sauce with a little sugar.

  3. Toss the hot mochi in it.

  4. Wrap with a strip of nori.

  5. Serve immediately.
