Potatoes with roasted cumin

Jeera aloo is a simple North Indian dish of boiled potatoes fried with roasted cumin.

It is often eaten on fasting days or as a quick side to puri and dal.

Ingredients

  • Boiled potatoes500 g
  • Cumin seeds2 tsp
  • Turmeric & chili powdersome of each
  • Green chili & gingersome of each
  • Coriander1 bunch
  • Ghee or oil2 tbsp

Preparation

  1. Cut the potatoes into cubes.

  2. Toast cumin in ghee until fragrant.

  3. Add ginger and green chili.

  4. Fry the potatoes with turmeric and chili.

  5. Serve sprinkled with coriander.
