Khao jee ping are grilled sticky rice cakes, a widespread Lao street snack.

The sticky rice is brushed with egg and roasted over charcoal until a crisp golden crust forms.

  • Cooked sticky rice400 g
  • Eggs2
  • Salt1 tsp
  • Spring onion1
  • Wooden skewers or sticksas needed

Preparation

  1. Shape the sticky rice with a little salt into cakes.

  2. Put the cakes on skewers.

  3. Pre-grill over charcoal.

  4. Brush with beaten egg.

  5. Keep grilling until the egg is golden brown.
