Khao Tom

Thai rice soup for any time of day

Khao tom is a light Thai rice soup in which cooked rice is served in a clear broth.

Popular as breakfast or a late supper, it is enriched with minced pork, ginger and garlic oil.

Ingredients

  • Cooked rice300 g
  • Minced pork200 g
  • Chicken broth1 l
  • Ginger1 piece
  • Garlic oil & fish sauce1 tbsp each
  • Coriander & spring onionsome of each

Preparation

  1. Bring the broth to a boil with ginger.

  2. Form the pork into small dumplings and poach.

  3. Add the cooked rice and warm through.

  4. Season with fish sauce.

  5. Serve with garlic oil, coriander and spring onion.
