Crispy prawns in sweet and spicy sauce

Kkanpung saeu are fried prawns in a sweet and spicy sauce, a classic of Korean-Chinese cuisine.

The crispy coating stays crunchy thanks to the quick toss in the glossy chili sauce.

Ingredients

  • Prawns400 g
  • Cornstarch100 g
  • Dried chilies & garlicsome of each
  • Soy sauce & sugarsome of each
  • Pepper & spring onionsome of each
  • Oil for fryingenough

Preparation

  1. Coat the prawns in cornstarch and fry.

  2. Fry chilies, garlic and pepper.

  3. Add a sauce of soy sauce and sugar.

  4. Toss the prawns in it quickly.

  5. Serve with spring onion.
