Crispy fried bananas from Thailand

Kluay tod are fried bananas, a classic Thai street snack with a crunchy shell.

The batter of rice flour and grated coconut is often enriched with sesame for a fine crunch.

Ingredients

  • Ripe bananas6
  • Rice flour100 g
  • Grated coconut40 g
  • Coconut milk120 ml
  • Sesame & sugarsome of each
  • Oil for fryingenough

Preparation

  1. Halve the bananas lengthwise.

  2. Stir a batter of rice flour, grated coconut and coconut milk.

  3. Coat the bananas in it.

  4. Fry in hot oil until golden.

  5. Drain and serve warm.
