Kori Gassi
Mangalorean chicken curry with coconut
Kori gassi is a spicy chicken curry of the Bunt community from Mangalore on the Karnataka coast.
The sauce of roasted coconut and chili is traditionally served with soft hollow rice rolls.

- Chicken pieces800 g
- Grated coconut150 g
- Dried red chilies6
- Coriander & cumin seeds1 tsp each
- Tamarind1 tbsp
- Onion & garlicsome of each

Preparation
Dry-roast the coconut, chilies and spices.
Grind to a paste with a little water.
Fry the onions and add the paste.
Stir in chicken and tamarind.
Braise in the coconut sauce until done.
