Lo Bak Go

Steamed and fried radish cake

Lo bak go is a Cantonese radish cake of grated daikon and rice flour, a classic of dim sum and the New Year.

Seasoned with dried shrimp and Chinese sausage, the cake is first steamed and then pan-fried crisp in slices.

Ingredients

  • White radish (daikon)800 g
  • Rice flour200 g
  • Dried shrimp30 g
  • Chinese sausage (lap cheong)1 piece
  • Soy sauce & sesame oilsome of each
  • Spring onion2 stalks

Preparation

  1. Grate the radish and cook soft.

  2. Fry the shrimp and sausage.

  3. Mix rice flour with the radish and its liquid.

  4. Fill the mixture into a tin and steam.

  5. Cool, slice and pan-fry crisp.
