Sticky rice balls with peanut filling

Lo mai chi are soft glutinous rice balls from Cantonese dim sum, filled with roasted peanuts and sugar.

Rolled in grated coconut on the outside, they are kin to the Japanese mochi.

Ingredients

  • Glutinous rice flour200 g
  • Roasted peanuts100 g
  • Sugar60 g
  • Grated coconut50 g
  • Water180 ml
  • Oil1 tbsp

Preparation

  1. Chop the peanuts and mix with sugar for the filling.

  2. Knead the rice flour with water into a dough.

  3. Steam the dough until translucent.

  4. Flatten portions and fill them.

  5. Shape into balls and roll in grated coconut.
