Sri Lankan onion-chili paste
Lunu miris is a fiery Sri Lankan paste of red onion, chili flakes and lime.
Pounded in a mortar, it accompanies rice, hoppers and kiribath and gives every meal a sharp, fresh note.

- Red onions2 pieces
- Chili flakes2 tbsp
- Lime juice2 tbsp
- Maldive fish1 tbsp
- Salt1 pinch

Preparation
Coarsely chop the onions.
Pound with chili flakes and salt in a mortar.
Add Maldive fish and pound along.
Season with lime juice.
Serve with rice, hoppers or kiribath.
