Maneul jjong bokkeum is a crunchy Korean side dish of young garlic scapes.

Stir-fried in a sweet and salty sauce and sprinkled with sesame, it is a springy banchan.

Ingredients

  • Garlic scapes (maneul jjong)300 g
  • Soy sauce2 tbsp
  • Rice syrup or honey1 tbsp
  • Dried shrimp2 tbsp
  • Sesame oil & sesamesome of each
  • Oil1 tbsp

Preparation

  1. Cut the garlic scapes into pieces.

  2. Fry dried shrimp in oil.

  3. Add the scapes and fry briefly.

  4. Glaze with soy sauce and syrup.

  5. Finish with sesame oil and sesame.
