Menchi Katsu

Breaded minced-meat patty

Menchi katsu is a breaded, deep-fried minced-meat patty - a popular yoshoku dish of Japanese-Western cuisine.

Crisp outside, juicy inside from finely chopped onion, it is served with tonkatsu sauce and shredded cabbage.

  • Minced meat (beef & pork)400 g
  • Onion1 piece
  • Panko100 g
  • Flour & eggsome of each
  • Tonkatsu sauceto serve
  • Oil for fryingplenty

Preparation

  1. Finely chop the onion, knead with minced meat and seasonings.

  2. Form into flat patties.

  3. Coat in flour, egg and panko.

  4. Fry golden in hot oil.

  5. Serve with tonkatsu sauce and cabbage.
