Korean seaweed birthday soup

Miyeok guk is a Korean soup of wakame seaweed, traditionally eaten on birthdays and after childbirth.

The seaweed is toasted in sesame oil and gently simmered in a mild broth with clams or beef.

Ingredients

  • Dried wakame30 g
  • Clams or beef200 g
  • Garlic2 cloves
  • Sesame oil1 tbsp
  • Soy sauce (soup soy)1 tbsp
  • Saltto taste

Preparation

  1. Soak the wakame and cut into bite-size pieces.

  2. Toast the wakame with garlic in sesame oil.

  3. Add clams or beef.

  4. Top up with water and simmer.

  5. Season with soup soy sauce and salt.
