Spicy stir-fried octopus

Nakji bokkeum is a fiery Korean dish of small octopus stir-fried in a gochujang sauce.

The short, hot cooking keeps the octopus tender, while gochugaru and garlic bring intense heat.

Ingredients

  • Small octopus (nakji)500 g
  • Gochujang2 tbsp
  • Gochugaru1 tbsp
  • Garlic & gingersome of each
  • Onion & carrotsome of each
  • Spring onion & sesamesome of each

Preparation

  1. Clean the octopus and cut into pieces.

  2. Mix gochujang, gochugaru and garlic into a sauce.

  3. Fry onion and carrot in the wok.

  4. Add octopus and sauce and stir-fry hard.

  5. Serve with spring onion and sesame.
