Nasi Uduk

Jakarta coconut rice

Nasi uduk is a fragrant coconut rice from Jakarta - rice steamed in coconut milk with bay, lemongrass and lime leaves.

It is classically served with fried shallots, tempeh, egg and sambal as a rich breakfast or main.

Ingredients

  • Rice400 g
  • Coconut milk400 ml
  • Lemongrass2 stalks
  • Lime leaves & baysome of each
  • Fried shallotsto garnish
  • Saltto taste

Preparation

  1. Wash the rice and drain.

  2. Set up with coconut milk, lemongrass, lime leaves and bay.

  3. Bring to a boil until the liquid is absorbed.

  4. Steam covered until done.

  5. Serve scattered with fried shallots.
