Sweet and spicy dried squid strips

Ojingeo chae bokkeum is a popular Korean side dish of dried, shredded squid strips.

Glazed in a glossy sauce of gochujang and syrup, they are at once sweet, spicy and chewy.

Ingredients

  • Dried squid strips150 g
  • Gochujang (chili paste)1 tbsp
  • Rice syrup or honey2 tbsp
  • Garlic1 clove
  • Mayonnaise1 tbsp
  • Sesame oil & sesamesome of each

Preparation

  1. Steam the squid strips briefly to soften.

  2. Stir gochujang, syrup and garlic into a sauce.

  3. Warm the sauce briefly.

  4. Fold in the squid and mayonnaise.

  5. Serve with sesame oil and sesame.
