Malay net pancakes for curry

Roti jala are fine net pancakes whose name translates as net bread, poured using a special funnel.

Served with curries, they belong to festive occasions and the breaking of the fast in Malaysia.

Ingredients

  • Flour200 g
  • Eggs1
  • Milk or water400 ml
  • Turmeric1 tsp
  • Salt1 pinch
  • Oilsome

Preparation

  1. Stir flour, egg, milk and turmeric into a thin batter.

  2. Fill the batter into a net funnel.

  3. Pour in circular motions into the pan.

  4. Cook briefly until the net sets.

  5. Fold into triangles and serve with curry.
