Beef with sacha sauce from Chaoshan

Shacha niurou is a quick stir-fry from the Chaoshan region with the savoury shacha sauce.

The sacha sauce of dried shrimp, garlic and spices lends the tender beef a deep umami.

Ingredients

  • Beef in strips300 g
  • Shacha sauce (sacha)2 tbsp
  • Soy sauce1 tbsp
  • Spring onion3
  • Garlic & gingersome of each
  • Cornstarch & oilsome of each

Preparation

  1. Marinate the beef with cornstarch and soy sauce.

  2. Sear quickly in a hot wok and remove.

  3. Fry garlic and spring onion.

  4. Stir in the shacha sauce.

  5. Return the beef, toss and serve.
