Spicy Korean dipping paste for wraps

Ssamjang is a thick, savoury Korean paste served with grilled meat for lettuce wraps.

It blends the fermented pastes doenjang and gochujang with garlic, sesame and spring onion.

Ingredients

  • Doenjang (soybean paste)3 tbsp
  • Gochujang (chili paste)1 tbsp
  • Garlic2 cloves
  • Spring onion1
  • Sesame oil & sesame1 tsp each
  • Sugar1 tsp

Preparation

  1. Stir doenjang and gochujang together.

  2. Finely chop garlic and spring onion.

  3. Combine everything.

  4. Season with sesame oil, sesame and sugar.

  5. Serve as a dip for grilled meat and lettuce wraps.
