Stuffed fried tofu pockets

Tahu isi are fried tofu pockets filled with a mixture of vegetables, a popular Indonesian snack.

The crisp batter shell and soft filling make them a classic gorengan snack.

  • Firm tofu4 pieces
  • Carrot & cabbage200 g
  • Bean sprouts100 g
  • Flour for the batter100 g
  • Garlic & spring onionsome of each
  • Oil for fryingenough

Preparation

  1. Halve the tofu and hollow out a pocket.

  2. Finely cut the vegetables and fry.

  3. Fill the tofu with the vegetables.

  4. Dip into a light batter.

  5. Fry golden and crisp.
