Ueong Jorim
Burdock root braised in soy sauce
Ueong jorim is a Korean side dish of burdock root glazed in sweet soy sauce.
The braised root stays pleasantly firm and is served sprinkled with sesame.

Ingredients
- Burdock root (ueong)300 g
- Soy sauce3 tbsp
- Rice syrup or honey2 tbsp
- Garlic2 cloves
- Sesame & sesame oilsome of each
- Oil1 tbsp

Preparation
Peel the burdock and cut into fine strips.
Soak briefly in water so it does not brown.
Fry in oil.
Glaze with soy sauce, syrup and garlic.
Finish with sesame and sesame oil.
