Warm ginger drink with sticky rice balls

Wedang ronde is a warming Javanese ginger drink with filled sticky rice balls.

The peanut-filled balls float in a sweet ginger-lemongrass broth, ideal for cool evenings.

Ingredients

  • Glutinous rice flour150 g
  • Roasted peanuts80 g
  • Fresh ginger60 g
  • Palm sugar100 g
  • Lemongrass & pandansome of each
  • Peanuts to servesome

Preparation

  1. Grind peanuts with sugar for the filling.

  2. Knead rice flour with water into a dough and fill.

  3. Cook the balls in water until they float.

  4. Boil ginger, lemongrass and palm sugar into a broth.

  5. Serve the balls in the ginger broth.
