Stuffed tofu and vegetables in clear broth

Yong tau foo is a Hakka dish of tofu and vegetables stuffed with a fish or meat paste.

In Malaysia and Singapore you pick your own pieces and have them cooked in clear broth or fried - with noodles or plain.

Ingredients

  • Tofu & tofu puffs300 g
  • Fish paste (surimi)200 g
  • Okra & bell peppersome of each
  • Clear broth1 l
  • Garlic & soy saucesome of each
  • Spring onion1 stalk

Preparation

  1. Score the tofu and vegetables.

  2. Stuff with seasoned fish paste.

  3. Bring clear broth to a boil with garlic.

  4. Cook the stuffed pieces in it.

  5. Arrange in bowls, serve with spring onion.
